CD Burriana are in mourning after the death of Roberto Codina Fortea, aged 83, a cornerstone of the club for decades.

The club said in a statement that he was regarded as their eternal armband away from the pitch, and sent condolences to his family and friends, adding that he was cherished across the old San Fernando. It noted he had been tied to the club for 50 years, working selflessly across all kinds of tasks, and that in 2025 he received a Gala de l’Esport award proposed by the club.

In a corner of Castellón where football lives on volunteer hours, his work kept teams on the pitch and the gates open on cold afternoons. His legacy lies in youngsters taught to compete with respect, in clean shirts and mended nets.

He was more than a name on a board. He fixed things, kept watch, calmed voices and pushed the club forward when resources were scarce.

His absence leaves a profound silence, and the home ground and daily rhythm will not be the same without him.
