Celta Vigo have been generally content with their season so far, with Claudio Giraldez being praised for his work. He has managed to get the best out of most of his players, but Greek striker Anastasios Douvikas feels he could give more.
According to Alberto Valle (in ED), Douvikas has explained to Celta that he is not happy with his role at the club, and would like to be allowed to leave in January. Celta, for their part, would allow him to leave, but want to earn back the €12m they spent on him 18 months ago. That price tag looks prohibitive at the time of writing, and it suggests he could leave on loan.
Douvikas has played 18 times this season, scoring 5 goals and giving an assist, but those appearances add up to just 715 minutes. Although he has featured in all but two of their games this season, he has started just a third of their games in La Liga. After playing second fiddle to Jorgen Strand Larsen last season, Borja Iglesias has usurped him again this year.
