As Barcelona prepare to host Celta Vigo in a key La Liga clash, the focus has shifted to the growing admiration for Hansi Flick’s squad across Spain.

Celta manager Claudio Giraldez has offered a fascinating insight into how Barcelona are being viewed from the outside.

Speaking ahead of the game in an interview with SPORT, Giraldez did not hold back when asked which Barça players he would take if given the chance.

“If I could sign one? I’d name three: Lamine, Pedri and Raphinha. It’s hard to choose; they’re all very good.”

Nothing but praise

Starting with Lamine Yamal, his admiration was clear and direct.

“He’s the most creative and talented player in the world. He dominates the attacking play.”

It’s a strong statement, especially considering Yamal’s age, but one that shows how quickly the teenager has established himself as a game-changer.

When speaking about Pedri, Giraldez shifted the focus towards control and intelligence.

“He’s the glue that binds everyone together; he’s capable of building play and shining when on the ball. He has that personality and works very hard.”

Then came Raphinha, a player who has become one of Barcelona’s most consistent performers.

“He is the perfect fit for Barça in terms of aggression, pressing and breaking through defences.”

Capable of Ballon d’Or

Perhaps the most striking part of Giraldez’s comments came when he looked beyond the present.

He placed all three players in the conversation for football’s biggest individual prize.

“They are three names that should be in the running for the Ballon d’Or. Lamine, if not this year, then next.

“He’s a chosen one; sooner or later he’ll win it, and I don’t think it’ll be just one,” he concluded.
