FC Barcelona teenage superstar Lamine Yamal has won the ‘Young Sportsperson of the Year Award’ for 2026 at the Laureus World Sports Awards today.

The 18-year-old sensation has quickly become one of the best in the game despite his young age and has been excelling for Barça and the Spanish national team.

The year 2025 was a memorable one for Lamine as he helped Barcelona win the La Liga title, along with the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup.

His influence went beyond flair and technical brilliance. The numbers backed it up: 18 goals and 25 assists over the season, figures that cemented his status as one of the most influential young players in world football.

Lamine finished runner-up in the Ballon d’Or rankings, behind winner Ousmane Dembele, and was named the Best Forward in the Globe Soccer Award 2025.

He was also bestowed the Laureus World Breakthrough of the Year in 2025 in April last year.

A year later, he has once again been honoured at the prestigious award ceremony, this time around, winning the World Young Sportsperson of the Year Award.
