Matias Vecino could leave Lazio on deadline day, as Celta Vigo are hoping to secure his services for the second half of the season.
The Uruguayan has spent the bulk of his playing career in Serie A. He first arrived in Italy through the gates of Fiorentina in 2013, and went on to represent Cagliari, Empoli, and Inter Milan, before joining the Biancocelesti in the summer of 2022.

Although he wasn’t always a regular starter, the experienced midfielder has long been considered an important member of the first team. However, his role has gradually diminished, while his physical powers have waned with the years.
Vecino signed a one-year extension with Lazio last June with an option for a second year, but the Aquile are unlikely to retain his services beyond the current season. In fact, the veteran might not even linger for the second half of the campaign, as Alfredo Pedullà reveals ongoing negotiations between the Italian capital side and Celta Vigo, who are interested in acquiring his services.
The Italian journalist insists that the two clubs have yet to reach an agreement, but the Aquile are open to releasing the player under certain conditions.
Lazio’s midfield department has been undergoing a comprehensive overhaul. The club has already sold Matteo Guendouzi to Fenerbahce, and signed Kenneth Taylor from Ajax, as well as Polish teenager Adrian Przyborek from Pogon.
Moreover, Reda Belahyane is seemingly on his way back to Hellas Verona, and it remains to be seen if Vecino will follow suit, which should pave the way for a new arrival on deadline day.
