Celtic cruised to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Aberdeen at Parkhead, as they continued their perfect start to the Scottish Premiership campaign.

The Dons have failed to beat Celtic in their last 28 league meetings, and that showed no signs of changing in the opening stages, as Camilo Durán fired Celtic into an early lead.

Benjamin Nygren doubled the hosts’ advantage soon after before Yang Hyun-jun made it three-nil before the break.

A quieter second half followed as Celtic continued their perfect start to the 26/27 league season.

Celtic had the bulk of the early possession, and made their early domination count through Camilo Durán. The striker found half a yard of space at the edge of the box before unleashing a venomous strike which flew past Marius Müller in the Aberdeen goal and into the top corner, giving the hosts an early lead.

They very nearly added a second after brilliant work from Yang Hyun-jun, but Haissem Hassan was unable to get clean contact on the close-range effort, before Durán fired over under pressure.

The visitors did have a rare sighting of goal after good work to play through the Celtic press, but Ayoub Mouloua was unable to find the target with his header. Soon after, Celtic passed up a great opportunity of their own after winning the ball back high, but Durán’s effort was relatively comfortable for Müller.

With 33 minutes on the clock, the home side did find a second. The Aberdeen defence failed to clear the ball and it fell to Benjamin Nygren who finished calmly into the corner to double the Celtic lead.

They very nearly had a third in the minutes after, but both Durán and Nygren passed up decent opportunities to extend the advantage.

Aberdeen very nearly got a goal back as Gavin Molloy’s header rattled the crossbar. But from that chance, the hosts broke quickly, and Yang found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper after a defensive mix-up and made no mistake, grabbing Celtic’s third before half-time.

With Celtic firmly in control at the break, the Dons made four changes at half-time, and looked better in the second period. That coupled with a drop in the home side’s intensity led to a quieter second half, where clear-cut chances for either team were at a premium.

The home side did have a few efforts on goal, with substitute Shumaira Mheuka, who only joined the club earlier today on loan from Chelsea, forcing Müller into a good stop down to his right. Mhueka then combined with fellow new signing Oliver Sorensen, with the latter’s glancing effort going just wide of the post.

That was as good as the second half got for either side, as Celtic continued their perfect start to the Scottish Premiership season, while Aberdeen sit in tenth after three defeats on the bounce.
