One-time Norwich City target Kasper Hogh is already proving to be a hit at Celtic

Norwich City were in the market for a new striker last January, with Josh Sargent edging closer to the exit door.

While the Canaries had begun to show signs of the dominance they were about to exert in the Championship in 2026 in the final few months of 2025, there were still demands to replace the wantaway American.

Jovan Makama was deputising well, but £6.9 million arrival Mathias Kvistgaarden wasn't having the most impactful debut campaign at Carrow Road. Evidently, they needed someone who could take the goalscoring mantle that Sargent left behind, and Bodo/Glimt's Kasper Hogh was the man linked to do so.

Norwich were serious in their pursuit of Hogh, who had netted 17 times in the 2025 Eliteserien for Bodo/Glimt, while also sharing the Golden Boot in the Europa League during the 2024/25 campaign, scoring seven times en route to the semi-final, where they were eliminated by Tottenham Hotspur.

The Danish frontman had helped the Norwegian side qualify for the Champions League for the first time in their history, but at the time of the report coming out, Kjetil Knutsen's side were winless in six games and staring down the barrel of elimination.

However, following that report, Hogh starred and scored a brace as Bodo\Glimt beat Manchester City 3-2. One week later, he netted the winner away at Atlético Madrid to secure qualification to the knockout rounds.

All of a sudden, the 25-year-old was one of the most talked-about strikers in Europe, and a £6 million mooted fee to bring him to the Championship was quickly dispelled.

In the end, he stayed at the Norwegian side, scoring another couple of Champions League goals as their fairytale run ended in the Last 16, made his senior debut for the Danish national team, and registered 14 goal contributions in the first 12 games of the 2026 Eliteserien campaign.

This summer, interest in Hogh was rife, especially given his electric start to the Norwegian top-flight campaign.

Celtic were the side to capitalise on that form and bring him in, breaking their transfer record in the process, too. The 25-year-old joined the Scottish giants for £11 million and has wasted no time in becoming a fan favourite.

The Scottish Premiership campaign has been underway for a couple of weeks now, and after a low-key affair on debut in a 1-0 win over Dundee, Hogh exploded into life in their 5-1 win at Kilmarnock on Sunday, scoring a first-half hat-trick.

The 25-year-old would then lead the post-match celebrations, as the reigning Champions hit top spot for the first time this season - a position they won't be wanting to relinquish at any point between now and May.

Their focus is away from league action now, though. They head to Dundee United in the League Cup next weekend, before their first-leg match-up with Austrian side LASK in the Champions League qualification play-off a week on Wednesday.

If Hogh could be the hero in Europe for the Hoops like he was at Bodo/Glimt, an already likeable character could enter hero territory in just his first month at the club.

Ultimately, while there's no doubting the quality of Hogh, Norwich fans won't be feeling too much transfer envy, as the breakdown in the deal for the Dane saw the Canaries pivot to Randers frontman Mohamed Toure.

The Australian has 11 goals in just 13 appearances since he arrived at Carrow Road midway through last season, the latest coming less than a minute into the new campaign in their 4-1 rout of MK Dons in the EFL Cup.

If Toure can remain fit for the entire campaign, he could easily finish atop the Golden Boot ranks in the Championship this year, scoring the goals that Norwich need to hopefully help fire them back into the Premier League.

But, with Toure only costing £2.6 million, and the reported fee to bring Hogh to Carrow Road being around £6 million before his brace against Manchester City...could there have been an outcome where both found their way to Norfolk in January?
