Celtic Crumble to Rangers Tumble – Watch Kris Boyd’s Sky Sports agony | OneFootball

Celtic is clearly in a bad place at the moment, but we can always rely on the Rangers to keep the banter years alive…

We can’t deny that we are in a bad place as a football club at the moment. Failure to add quality players in key areas has cost us yet again as we threw away a golden opportunity to qualify for the Champions League group stages.

Our failure in Linz on Tuesday night has cost us dearly, with a potential £40 million payday being allowed to slip through our fingers, which is even more frustrating considering we were in such a commanding position, and odds on to take our place at Europe’s top table.

Despite Celtic being in such a strong position, we proceeded to throw away a 4-0 lead, which is a source of great concern, and also a total embarrassment for everyone connected to our football club.

Two of my colleagues on Celtic Shorts travelled to Linz and the anger among the support at the game was off the scale. Many of course travelled the away game last year against Kairat Almaty and they were saying that this defeat in Linz was worse.

Who could have imagined things getting worse after what we thought was an all-time low for Celtic in Europe?

But we can afford to comfort ourselves by knowing that we are miles ahead domestically, even though it hurts to be consistently failing when it comes to competing in European competition.

We will know what awaits us in the Europa League at lunchtime time today but unless multiple signings are made you fear for us at that level. Every opponent will watch back that collapse in Linz and fancy their chances against a shambles of a Celtic team.

So as bad as Tuesday night was, it still continues to be a source of pain, but I suppose last night offered us the opportunity to at least smile once again after learning that our Glasgow rivals failed to qualify for the group stages of Europe’s third tier competition. I’m not exactly sure of the rules but I think that they have now dropped into the qualifiers for the Tennent’s Sixes.

Yes, the supporters of a club who had spent the last few days goading us over our champions league nightmare, have had to watch on in agony as their side crashed out on penalty kicks to Czech minnows Jablonec, meaning there will be no European football for the Ibrox side this season.

Celtic supporters will remember beating Jablonec home and away to register an aggregate score of 7-2 five years ago. If you search the world Jablonec on social media platform X, you will find several posts from Ibrox supporters mocking the Czech side with slurs like ‘who are they?’ and ‘what is a Jablonec?’

I think they all found out just who they were last night. Not only have the Rangers still to register a win in the league, they have now seen their European campaign ended by a side they once described as a ‘WiFi Password’.

IF Celtic win tomorrow at home to Falkirk then a gap of eight points will be opened on the latest Ibrox club who will then have to try to reduce that gap at Pittodrie against an Aberdeen team who will clearly fancy their chances.

Kris Boyd was joking about the ‘Celtic crumble’ on Tuesday night but there was nothing he found funny working on Sky Sports News last night as he reported on the penalty shootout.
