In one of his recent transfer updates, Sky Sports journalist Luca Bendoni has shared an update on Giuseppe Ambrosino. Celtic are reportedly keen on the Napoli youngster and have inquired about a potential loan with an option to buy deal ahead of a summer swoop.

But the Hoops face competition from Serie A, as newly-promoted Cremonese have reportedly tabled an offer of around €3m, along with a sell-on clause. Cagliari are also keen on tying him down on a season-long loan; however, according to Orazio Accomando, the Glasgow giants still have a gap with the champions of Italy in terms of valuation.

The 21-year-old Azzurri youth international progressed through the academy ranks of Procida Calcio before joining Napoli, aged ten. There, he rose across various youth ranks, and the Blues loaned him out to various Serie B outfits over the past few years for first-team football. While he spent the 2022-23 season with Como and Cittadella, Ambrosino improved his numbers at Catanzaro, where he attained more minutes throughout the 2023-24 campaign.

Nevertheless, a move to Frosinone last summer proved to be a breakthrough season for the young ace, as he netted five goals and laid on four times in 37 league appearances. After helping the Canaries retain their Serie B status, the centre-forward now has a chance to shine in the top-flight of Italian football.

But he has kept his options. As per Bendoni, Ambrosino is keen on experiencing Scottish football, and it remains to be seen whether the Bhoys snap him up, having roped in Callum Osmond already from Fulham.

Why Celtic Are Chasing Ambrosino

Besides Osmond, the Celts have another exciting prospect in Johnny Kenny, who made his presence known as the understudy to Adam Idah following Kyogo Furuhashi’s winter exit. Yet the Irish ‘number 9’ could be loaned out for regular gametime with a ‘host of clubs‘ keen, thus making way for the Napoli prodigy to restore parity high up the pitch.

But the likely arrival of Ambrosino won’t jeopardise Kenny’s long-term future at Parkhead. The emerging striking sensation should challenge and cover Idah upfront, as he is far more experienced than Osmond, with the latter awaiting his senior debut despite showing his exquisite scoring traits for the Cottagers’ reserves.

Celtic will not only chase a ‘domestic treble’ but also look to impress in Europe next season. They need depth across the pitch to deal with the fixture congestion, and securing Ambrosino should allow Daizen Maeda to feature from his preferred left-wing role week in and week out.
