The 22-year-old Sligo-born forward – yet to earn a cap for his country – has been included in Heimir Hallgrímsson’s squad for Saturday’s World Cup qualifier against Hungary at Lansdowne Road, with the match scheduled to kick off at 7.45pm.
Kenny has steadily advanced through Ireland’s youth ranks and is now making his senior squad debut, stepping in after the injured Troy Parrott, who had been excelling at Dutch side AZ Alkmaar, had to pull out through injury.

The Celtic attacker – aiming to cement his place at club level with the lack of attacking options through the boardroom’s shambolic approach to the summer transfer window – is set to link up with his international teammates today for the first training session at the FAI’s Abbotstown facility.
Ireland kicks off their World Cup qualifying campaign with a tough match against a Hungary team that performed well and beat Scotland 1-0 at Euro 2024, and Kenny’s last-minute call-up adds an extra attacking option for Heimir Hallgrímsson as he aims for a strong start to the qualifiers.
For Kenny, this marks a significant career milestone, transitioning from youth levels to the opportunity of making his senior international debut.

He was not in the squad for Celtic’s 0-0 draw with theRangers on Sunday at Ibrox but recently extended his contract following two successful loan stints with Shamrock Rovers.
Kenny will now link up with his current Hoops teammate Liam Scales and his FORMER Celtic striker partner Adam Idah who joined English Championship side Swansea City late last night.
