Celtic could still move for Manchester City midfielder Claudio Gomes this summer and the deal is “one to keep an eye on” according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.
Ange Postecoglu is in the process of preparing his side for a defence of their Scottish Premiership title in 2022-23 but further deals could still be struck before the transfer deadline.
It has been a busy summer for Celtic so far with six permanent deals struck in the green and white half of Glasgow already.
Aaron Mooy, Benjamin Siegrist and Alexandro Bernabei have all arrived as new signings while Jota, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Daizen Maeda have made their loan moves permanent. Centre-back Mortiz Lenz has also arrived on loan from FC Lorient for the season.
Despite the arrival of Mooy, another addition to the midfield appears to still be on the cards at Celtic Park.
Manchester City youngster Gomes has been linked with a temporary move north of the border this summer, one of the latest in a line of talents from the Premier League champions’ academy.
O’Rourke believe that it is a link that could have legs as we move towards the final month of the summer transfer window.
The journalist cites the strong relationship between the two clubs as well as between Postecoglu and the City Group.
O’Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: “That’s one to keep an eye on. I think Celtic and Manchester City do have good links they have had players go from Manchester City to Celtic in the past as well. And then they do have links through the City Group where Ange Postecoglu was working before he moved to Celtic as well so yeah, there’s obviously good links there.”

The 22-year-old, who is currently earning £22,000 per week, is a defensive midfielder by trade and was snapped up from the Paris Saint-Germain academy back in the summer of 2018.
He has only made three appearances for Pep Guardiola’s first team but has gained a wealth of experience from various spells away on loan.Last season saw Gomes spend time in the Championship with Barnsley and although he could not help the Tykes avoid the drop, he did play 31 times in the second tier.
