Celtic are now ‘closing in’ on securing a deal with Torino for the signature of Lithuania international midfielder Gvidas Gineitis.
Martin O’Neill’s side have added real depth in the engine room with the signing of Mika Baur, followed by the expected captures of Joel van den Berg and Oliver Sorensen.
They have though long seen Torino’s Gineitis as a key target.
Talks have been tough, with bids rejected, but Celtic have not given up on bringing in the Serie A midfielder.
The Italian side have been open to doing business, but only at a valuation they believe is fair for someone who is a Lithuania international.
Celtic made a new attempt on Monday with a late night bid, but that failed to convince Torino as they rejected it promptly.

In the face of repeated rejections, Celtic have refused to give up on Gineitis and it was suggested that they are still holding talks.
Now with recent developments the Bhoys seem to have been making progress, as, according to Italian journalist Luca Bendoni, they are closing in on a deal.
It was suggested before that the Serie A outfit are looking for a fee in the region of €10m, but it remains to be seen whether Celtic have managed to negotiate down that price.
The Lithuanian midfielder joined Torino from SPAL in the summer of 2022 and he has made 83 appearances for them so far.

Celtic will want to get the deal over the line in time to include the midfielder in their Europa League squad list.
That document must be submitted to UEFA by Wednesday evening.
The Parkhead outfit could also experience a departure in the coming hours as Reo Hatete could join a Championship side
