Celtic are open to offers for striker Albian Ajeti this summer, according to Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph.
The Switzerland international made the switch from West Ham two years ago, but he’s struggled to live up to expectations in Scotland.
Despite failing to score in his 12 months in the Premier League, the Hoops still opted to bring Ajeti to Parkhead for a big-money fee.
Ajeti had established himself as a proven goalscorer for his boyhood club Basel, but it simply hasn’t worked out in Glasgow.
He initially made a bright start to his Celtic career, netting in five of his first six Scottish Premiership games at the beginning of the 2020-2021 season.
But the 25-year-old would find the net just once more that campaign, and after striking just three times last term, he now has an underwhelming record of nine goals in 48 appearances in green and white.
A hamstring injury forced Ajeti to miss the best part of five months last season, although even when he was fit he’d fallen down the pecking order, which saw him become nothing more than a bit-part player.
He told GIVEMESPORT: “I think Celtic are very much willing to listen to offers to come in for him and it might be something like a loan with an option to buy.
“It really depends on the fee because Celtic got him for £5m and they’d really be trying to make up as much of that money as possible.”
When Ajeti first joined Celtic and scored a flurry of goals during his first few months at the club, £5m for his services looked like being a steal.
Despite not always being a regular starter, Ajeti was featuring near enough every week and was showing promising signs under Neil Lennon.
Since his goalscoring spree, though, Ajeti has simply struggled for consistency and shown little in the way to suggest that he might be the answer for Celtic at the top end of the pitch.
As a result, last season ended up proving a write off for the striker, who played just 552 minutes in all competitions and now looks to have played his last game for the club.
