Celtic are reportedly ready to move for Rapid Vienna star Isak Jansson, as they scour the marketplace for a Nicolas Kühn replacement. The German forward is in the process of completing a move to aspiring Serie A side Como, who are managed by former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder, Cesc Fabregas, who has been bankrolled substantially this summer already.

The Spaniard’s backers are set to sanction a £17 million move for the Celtic star who lit up Scottish football last year and also made his mark on the Continent too. With a handful of strong showings in the UEFA Champions League group phase last season – including a career best showing against his boyhood club RB Leipzig – interest in the former Ajax man was rife and it seems like Como have now won the race for his signature.
Kühn is due to arrive in Italy this coming week to finalise a deal to the nouveau riche Italian outfit, with his old club Rapid set to benefit too, with a £1.4 million windfall coming their way from the impending deal. And now it has come to light that Celtic are ironically looking at Kühn’s replacement in Austrian, when he jumped ship to Paradise 18-months back in January.

Jansson only cost the Austrian’s £200,000 following a successful loan spell from FC Cartagena and his exploits in Kühn’s old position has seen interest rise immediately in him. According to Scottish Sun, the pacey winger is being courted by Lazio, Fiorentina and FC Paris and his standout performances since moving to Vienna has the list of potential suitors growing.
Brendan Rodgers has already secured Jansson’s fellow Swede Benjamin Nygren this summer transfer window, but with Benji looking more like a midfielder than winger, more has to be done to address the creativity dearth following Jota’s injury and now Kühn’s transfer to Como. Michel-Ange Balikwisha and Sondre Ørjasæter remain names which are of interest to the club, however, it’s still to be decided who Irishman Rodgers wants in for the new campaign.
