Celtic are set to beat Hibs to the punch and land 18-year-old Sligo Rovers striker Johnny Kenny this week.
The local Sligo Champion has revealed that the Irish teenager has opted to join Ange Postecoglou’s side in the current transfer window.
Kenny has a meagre buyout clause of €150,000 (around £125,000). The deal will include add-ons that will benefit Rovers.
In helping Rovers qualify for the Uefa Europa Conference League, he scored 11 goals in 33 matches last season.
Despite his top-shelf numbers in the League of Ireland, Kenny is expected to start playing with the Celtic B side who compete in the Lowland League, Scotland’s fifth tier.
