Celtic winger Yang Hyun-jun reaches Asian Games final after injury scare | OneFootball

Celtic winger Yang Hyun-jun was an unused substitute as South Korea booked their place in the Asian Games final with a dramatic victory over China.

Yang missed his country’s quarter-final win over Vietnam after suffering a hamstring injury, although the Hoops attacker later expressed hope that he would recover in time to feature again at the tournament.

The 24-year-old returned to South Korea’s matchday squad for today’s semi-final but remained on the bench throughout the 2-1 victory.

China took the lead through Yudong Wang before Young-Jun Lee hauled South Korea level just ten minutes later.

The Koreans then completed the comeback in the 82nd minute as Bae Junho struck the winner to send his country into the final.

South Korea will discover their opponents later, with Uzbekistan and Japan meeting in the other semi-final.

Yang is one of the over-age players representing South Korea’s Under-23 side at the Asian Games, with his involvement in the tournament forcing him to miss several important Celtic fixtures, including the recent derby double-header against Rangers.
