Celtic winger Sebastian Tounekti found himself at the centre of a touchline confrontation while on international duty with Tunisia.

The Hoops attacker featured as a late substitute in Monday’s 2-2 AFCON qualifier against Botswana, entering the action with seven minutes remaining as Tunisia chased a winner.

Hazem Mastouri had struck twice to put Tunisia 2-1 ahead after they fell behind early on, before Lebogang Ditsele levelled for Botswana.

Tounekti was introduced in an attempt to provide a late spark, but the Celtic man instead became involved in a heated exchange with the Botswana bench during stoppage time.

With Tunisia pushing to get the game restarted quickly, Tounekti attempted to retrieve the ball for a throw-in only for a member of the Botswana coaching staff to hold onto it and palm the winger away.

Tounekti reacted by attempting to wrestle the ball back before members of the Botswana bench intervened and pushed him away.

That sparked a brief shoving match involving players and staff from both sides before the situation eventually calmed down.

There was to be no late winner for Tunisia, with the 2-2 draw leaving Tounekti’s side on two points from their opening two matches in Group H of AFCON qualifying.
