Celtic’s rearranged St Johnstone fixture confirmed ahead of Rangers cup showdown | OneFootball

Celtic’s postponed Scottish Premiership trip to St Johnstone has been rearranged for Wednesday, September 9.

The fixture was originally due to take place at McDiarmid Park on Saturday, August 22, but was postponed due to Celtic’s involvement in their Champions League play-off against LASK.

The SPFL has now confirmed Martin O’Neill’s side will make the trip to Perth next month, with an 8pm kick-off. The match will also be shown live on Sky Sports.

It will be the first managerial meeting between O’Neill and St Johnstone boss Simo Valakari, who guided the Perth club straight back to the Premiership following their relegation at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

The rearranged date leaves Celtic facing a potentially significant few days domestically, with the trip to McDiarmid Park coming just four days before their Premier Sports Cup quarter-final against Rangers at Ibrox.
