Cercle Brugge had four purchase options for players who joined them on loan this season. After the side finished in the bottom four but survived for another Pro League season, the club has decided against picking up the purchase option on any of the players. Two will return to Gent, one to Burnley and the other to Reims.
Pieter Gerkens and Dante Vanzier will both return to fellow Belgian side Gent. Gerkens joined Cercle Brugge at the start of the season and ended up with six goals and one assist in 37 games. Vanzeir joined in January and scored two goals in 15 games, while also providing two assists. Both will likely be moved on by Gent this summer.
Oluwaseun Adewumi joined on loan from Burnley and played 33 games, scoring six goals. Last season Adewumi had been loaned out by Burnley to Dundee , where he scored five goals and provided five assists. Adewumi has a contract with Burnley up until 2028.
Despite being called up by the Cote d’Ivoire for the upcoming World Cup, Oumar Diakite will not be returning to Belgium with Cercle Brugge next season. The 22-year-old striker joined on loan from Reims and scored seven goals in 26 games. He is under contract with Reims until 2028.
