The Wolves boss has issued an update over their transfer plans.

Wolves will be gearing up their pre-season preparations ahead of the new Championship season.

After returning to the Championship for the first time in eight years, the Black Country outfit made a strong start to the summer transfer window, securing the impressive captures of Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez.

Such statement signings in the second tier were met with joy from the Wolves fanbase, who finally felt the club was getting back on track and that they were beginning to build a squad that could take the division by storm.

But out of the blue, it emerged that the club were parting ways with Rob Edwards, peculiar timing given the former boss had conducted a fans forum with BBC Radio WM to discuss plans for the upcoming season, while Trippier had commented on how influential Edwards was in the ex-England international moving to Molineux.

There has since been a change of travel in the dugout, with Portuguese coach Cesar Peixoto taking over the Molineux hotseat, aiming to deliver immediate promotion back to the Premier League.

It will be intriguing to see how the 46-year-old will fare in his first English role, but he comes off the back of an impressive season at Gil Vicente, where he guided them to a sixth-placed finish in the Portuguese top-flight.

Since the arrivals of Trippier and Jimenez, Wolves have added another two players into the building, which have included the permanent signing of defender Ladislav Krejčí, while winger Rafiki Saïd has also linked up at Molineux from Standard Liege.

Wolves will be keen on giving Peixoto all the tools to allow him to get the Black Country outfit back into the Premier League at the first time of asking, with Wolves supporters expecting more incomings through the door as three weeks remain before their opening game of the season against Blackburn Rovers.

Speaking to Wolves’ official club website, boss Cesar Peixoto has offered an update on Wolves’ transfer plans ahead of the 2026-27 season, detailing that their business is far from finished and that they are looking for further additions that make the team ‘strong’ and possess further ‘quality’.

Peixoto said: “I studied all the players, but it’s not the same as working with them on the pitch, and I'm happy with the quality we have.

"We're going to bring more players to help us build a strong team, a quality team, but these players are showing me character, commitment and quality, and this is important for me. Also, I try to make my rules, I try to make a good environment with all the players and staff, and I'm happy with the feeling of all the people, it’s important that everyone understands the mentality I want in the club, because I believe in maximum freedom, maximum responsibility.

"Now I start to see and feel it in the club, in the team, and it makes me happy, with hope and trust to build a good family, and after a great team.”

It's sure to be an exciting season for Wolves, who are expected to be one of the dominant forces in the division and gain promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Those chances have certainly increased after the arrivals of Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez in particular, who both add vital second tier experience and will have a major impact at both ends of the pitch.

The departure of Joao Gomes to Aston Villa for a reported £38m fee also provides a huge boost to the coffers, and Peixoto’s words confirm that they will look to use some of those funds to add further quality to the squad.

While it’s unclear at this stage who their targets are, the club will be hopeful of convincing some hugely talented players about the project at Molineux, with Wolves making their lives so much easier to get out of the Championship by recruiting players who are almost too good for the division.

So as the next few weeks tick by, we should expect to see Wolves remaining busy on the transfer front, as they aim to be lifting the title trophy come May 2027.
