Cesc Fabregas says he did not even know Como existed before choosing a project he felt was right for him, a gut call that has taken the club from Serie B to the Champions League.
Speaking at the Festival dello Sport in Trento, he said: 'The Como project started in quite a strange way, because I had a few proposals, but I just felt this was the right decision. Sometimes you've just got to follow your gut.' 'Funnily enough, I'd been to Como a few times on vacation, but I didn't even know there was a football team here.' Football Italia reports.
Fabregas ended his playing career at Como in Serie B, then moved into coaching in 2023. He has since overseen a historic climb built around a clear identity.
He credits Antonio Conte with a tactical awakening at Chelsea. 'The first time I saw that football was changing it was when I met Conte at Chelsea. With Conte, I saw this change. He was focused on the details.'
His approach is uncompromising on identity. 'The question I ask myself before every game is, how do I want to lose? I want to lose with my ideas.' Como are eighth in Serie A with 10 points from five matches, three behind leaders Roma.
