Algeria booked a quarter-final date with a win over DR Congo, with the Eintracht midfielder playing most of the match and the only goal coming courtesy of a club-mate of former Eagle Tuta.

Farès Chaibi’s Algeria made it through to the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations on Tuesday night. The Desert Foxes dominated the match throughout, yet struggled to create any real chances and rarely put their opponents under pressure. The tie was goalless in regulation time, with Eintracht midfielder Chaibi then substituted after 113 minutes. The closing stages saw opportunities at both ends, before Adil Boulbina found the top corner of the net with a sublime strike with barely a minute of extra time remaining. Nigeria up nextChaibi and Algeria will next be in action on Saturday 10 January at 17:00 CET in Marrakesh when they take on Nigeria, who won their round of 16 tie 4-0 against Mozambique.
