The Champions League draw for the 2024/25 season has been made and it will see the four Premier League participants take part in some tasty fixtures.
This year’s competition sees the traditional group stage replaced by the “Swiss model”, which is a single 36-strong league table with each team playing eight matches against eight different opponents, four at home and four away.
The top eight will qualify directly for the knockout stage, with 16 sides contesting a playoff round. The teams finishing between 25th and 36th will be eliminated when the league phase concludes in January. The teams that come through the playoffs will join the top eight sides in the last-16.
We might lose your attention if we try to explain how the draw works in detail, but teams were picked out of four pots and their fixtures generated automatically by a computer.
As intended, that system has thrown up some huge clashes between the some of the biggest clubs in Europe. Arsenal and Manchester City will both face PSG, Liverpool host Real Madrid at Anfield, while Aston Villa will take on Bayern Munich in a repeat of the 1982 European Cup final.
Here is the full draw and fixture list, starting with the Premier League clubs. Dates for all of the games will be confirmed on Saturday, 31 August.
