Champions League draw: who could OL Lyonnes face? | OneFootball

OL Lyonnes will learn their six Champions League league-phase opponents on Friday, with two potentially drawn from pot one, Barcelona, Chelsea, Bayern and Arsenal. PSG and Paris FC also await the outcome.

According to Le Progres, the draw is scheduled for noon at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, with Barcelona entering as holders. Lyon are vice-champions of Europe and remain intent on reclaiming the crown.

18 clubs are split across three pots, two thirds confirmed after Wednesday’s qualifiers. Lyon, ranked second by UEFA behind Barça, sit in pot one and cannot face PSG. From pot two they could meet Real Madrid, Juventus, Häcken, AS Roma or Benfica, but not Paris FC.

Any of the third-pot sides can be drawn against Lyon, namely Manchester City, OH Leuven of Belgium, HB Køge of Denmark, Austria Wien of Austria, Inter and Servette de Genève of Switzerland. After the draw, Jonatan Giráldez’s team will also know their six opponents, three at home and three away. Barcelona, Madrid and City are the prime threats to avoid across the three pots.

The Fenottes aim to finish between first and fourth to qualify directly for the quarter-finals. Clubs placed fifth to 12th drop into play-offs, the rest go out. This format began last season, with matchday one on 22 and 23 September.
