FC Porto have begun shaping 2026/27, with Francesco Farioli and André Villas-Boas aligned on a decisive transfer strategy and upgrades in attack to meet Champions League demands.
According to O Jogo, Farioli met the club’s sporting hierarchy a day after the defeat to Aves SAD, with Villas-Boas present, to review a season that returned the title and to set out formal guidelines for 2026/27.
Farioli is conscious the squad needs to evolve, particularly up front, because of the Champions League and the likelihood Porto are the side to beat. Villas-Boas is keen to respond.
The board has gathered the information required to move decisively in the market and prepare the next campaign. Retaining a core group identified by the coach is viewed as important to underpin strengthening.
The plan centres on keeping that nucleus in place while making targeted additions, following the discussions held in recent months. The focus is on reinforcing quality rather than wholesale change.
