The EFL have announced that the recently called off Championship fixture between Blackburn Rovers and Ipswich Town is set to be replayed in full.

That is despite the fact that the game was called off with 79 minutes played and with Rovers leading 1-0 due to heavy rain deeming the pitch to be unsafe and unplayable.

Ipswich were also reduced to 10 men at the time of the abandonment.

"The board considered all options available but it was ultimately decided by a majority that the fixture should be replayed in full," read an EFL statement.

"The decision follows recent precedents related to abandoned fixtures and is intended to upholding the integrity of the league competition which is based on a complete set of fixtures being played to a conclusion on the day.

"It was an incredibly difficult decision."

A new date for the fixture will be confirmed in due course.
