Southampton keeper Aaron Ramsdale was aimed at a lot yesterday. While he conceded 3 against Bournemouth on the pitch, he should be more impacted by Troy Deeney's post-match remarks.

Remember the final week of the summer transfer window 2024? Southampton feels about to complete their window with a marquee move of ex-Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale.

Naturally, with the Saints bringing an English international for £18 million fixed, excitement is everywhere.

But fast forward to now, the move hasn't yielded effective.

Don't get me wrong, it has been a steal deal for Southampton given Ramsdale's performances, but the 26-year-old must've been disappointed.

Definitely, a transition from being title contenders to relegation favorites isn't easy after all.

Still, had it been till this, it would have been less shameful for Southampton. Surprisingly, now even pundits feel pity on Ramsdale's choice to agree to a Saints move.

Recently, speaking to TalkSport, former Championship hero Troy Deeney felt concerned about him.

Being a critic of his decision to pick Southampton, Deeney said: "I think he's made a real big gamble. Yes, he looks half good, but he doesn't fill you with confidence that he can go on and kick and be in this England team, which is what he ultimately wanted to do."

This came after his heroic performance against Bournemouth despite which, he ended up on the losing side with Southampton.

In all honesty, the Saints have let Ramsdale down. But, if we go by Deeney's take, already compromised on his national dream, even Ramsdale's club career seems uncertain now.

In his words: "But do you think someone's going to take him on next year, if they go down? I don't think so."

Not disrespecting Deeney, still I somewhat disagree with him on this.

Certainly, Ramsdale joining Southampton has cost him a valuable year but being Top flight level, he will tempt suitors surely. After all, it was recently that Newcastle came calling for him.
