At FC Bayern, Arijon Ibrahimovic’s stay with the club was recently considered a done deal. But it appears that the forward’s departure this summer isn’t entirely off the table after all.

In fact, the German record champions have clear plans for the 20-year-old: Ibrahimovic is set to be firmly integrated into Vincent Kompany’s squad and play a role next season.

Nevertheless, according to BILD’s soccer editor Christian Falk, this situation could still change—provided the right offer lands at Säbener Straße. Ibrahimovic has “a market,” according to Falk. So other clubs still have a chance with the right-footed player, even if Munich currently wants to keep him.

“FC Bayern believes it makes sense to keep this talent, as the club needs backup options at this position. However, if a good offer is on the table, Bayern Munich will discuss it,” Falk explained. His continued presence with the club is thus contingent on certain conditions.

Bayern thinks highly of Ibrahimovic

It remains to be seen how the rest of the summer transfer window will unfold: “Right now, it looks like Arijon Ibrahimovic will stay, but I think things could still change here as well,” said the transfer insider. A final decision on the forward’s future is therefore still pending.

Nevertheless, the club at Säbener Straße thinks highly of the youngster. Ibrahimovic has officially been part of the squad again since July 1 and is expected to find his place alongside Kompany. Sporting director Christoph Freund recently praised him publicly: „Especially during his very good year in Heidenheim, he learned a lot personally to be ready for FC Bayern now. His development exemplifies the opportunities we provide for our young talents. Now it’s no longer just about learning for him—now it’s about making an impact, here at FC Bayern.“

The forward’s career path has taken him through several stops recently: In 2018, Ibrahimovic came to Munich from the youth academy of 1. FC Nürnberg, followed by loan spells at Frosinone and Lazio Rome in Italy. Last season, he played for 1. FC Heidenheim, where he appeared in 34 competitive matches and scored two goals for the Bundesliga relegation team. His contract with FC Bayern runs through 2028.
