Charlie Cresswell ‘set for medical’ before €28m Rennes move

Former Leeds United youngster Charlie Cresswell is set for a Sunday medical with Rennes ahead of a move from Toulouse valued at about €28m, David Ornstein reports.

The England youth international came through Leeds’ academy and broke into the first team, but minutes were limited amid centre-back competition. He left in July 2024 for Toulouse for a fee believed to be around £3.8m.

Now 23, his form in Ligue 1 has boosted his reputation. Brighton had a €23m offer rejected by Toulouse in January.

Brighton were said to be considering another approach this summer, with Crystal Palace also linked.

The Rennes agreement is described as a loan with a €2.5m fee, a €22.5m obligation to buy plus €3m add-ons and a 10% future sale clause, with a five-year contract upon completion.
