Charlie Cresswell ‘to have medical’ before €28m Rennes move | OneFootball

Charlie Cresswell is set to undergo a medical with Rennes on Sunday before a move worth about €28m, David Ornstein reports. The former Leeds United defender would arrive from Toulouse.

The deal is described as a €2.5m loan, an obligation to buy for €22.5m, a further €3m and a 10 per cent sell-on. A five-year contract would follow, making it Toulouse’s second-highest sale.

An England youth international, Cresswell came through Leeds’ academy and reached the first team, though minutes were limited amid competition for centre-back places.

He ended more than a decade at Elland Road by joining Toulouse in July 2024 for a fee believed to be around £3.8m.

His stock has since risen. Brighton had a €23m bid rejected in the January window, while reports suggested they could return this summer. Crystal Palace were also linked.
