Manchester United are closing in on signing yet another young star for their academy.
Since Ineos have taken over control of the football side of the club, there has been a significant push to bring in young stars.
Last season saw the exciting purchases of Sekou Kone, Chido Obi and Ayden Heaven.
United have continued this trend this summer too with the capture of Enzo Kana-Biyik, Harley Emsden-James and Diego Leon.
United are not content with their work so far however and are reportedly pursuing yet another young talent.
The Peoples Person revealed at the beginning of July that Manchester United were looking to seal a deal for Derby County’s Charlie Hardy.
United had the England u16s youth international as a “key target” for the academy this summer and they have reportedly made some progress in this deal.
CentreDevils reports that “Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Derby County youth goalkeeper Charlie Hardy.”
The report goes on to state that Hardy “wasn’t included in Derby County’s scholarship list of 2025, with a move to the Red Devils getting closer now.”
The 15-year-old has already appeared four times for Derby’s u18s last season.
Hardy has even captained the u18s against Leeds United, showing his potential leadership skills at such a young age.
His obvious talent is clear to scouts across the country as he has been called up regularly for the England u16 side.
United’s u18s will be led by former United midfielder Darren Fletcher who will hope to continue to develop the incredibly talented starlet at Carrington.
