Charlton Athletic beat West Ham United 2-1 at the London Stadium to make it two wins from two and rise from sixth to second in the Championship.

In the seventh minute Lloyd Jones guided in from the centre of the box after Sonny Carey's pass to give the visitors the lead.

Arthur Okonkwo was outstanding, making a string of saves as the Hammers pushed for an equaliser.

After the restart Tyreece Campbell doubled the advantage with a precise low finish (56.).

Konstantinos Mavropanos then departed injured with Joel Veltman introduced (70.). Joel Piroe pulled one back from close range for the Hammers (74.).

Four minutes were added. A handball by Conor Coventry brought a penalty in the second minute of stoppage time, but Valentin Castellanos struck the right post from the spot in the third minute of stoppage time.

The Hammers had 77.5% possession and 25 attempts. Charlton Athletic registered seven attempts and hit five on target, with Okonkwo making eight saves. Campbell is now on two league goals, second in the Championship scoring chart.
