Charlton Athletic sign Australian international midfielder Van Egmond

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Addicks this afternoon.
The 33-year-old joins Charlton Athletic from Leicester City. Van Egmond spent one season with The Foxes. She made 18 appearances in the Barclays Women’s Super League last season, scoring one goal. Van Egmond was a member of a Leicester City side that were defeated by Charlton Athletic in an end of season play-off.
The midfielder is hugely experienced in the club game. Charlton Athletic is the 16th different club that she has represented in her career. She has played her football in Australia, Denmark, the United States, Germany and England.
On the international stage, Van Egmond has been capped by Australia on 174 occasions in which she has scored 33 goals.
After joining Charlton Athletic, Van Egmond said “Yeah, it feels amazing. I’m obviously excited for the new challenge and just can’t wait for the season to start.
“When I first initially spoke to Charlton, it was just the culture [that made me want to sign] and, to be honest with you, the winning mentality and the ambition the club has set.
“I felt like that really aligned with myself as a person and a player and got a good feel, and [I’m] excited to be here.”
Van Egmond is Charlton Athletic’s seventh signing of the summer transfer window.
