Ladapo linked with Charlton loan move

Having joined Ipswich on a free transfer following his departure from Rotherham United in the summer of 2022, Ladapo played a key role for the Tractor Boys in his first season with the club.

The striker scored, 17 goals in 46 League One appearances during that campaign, to help the club win promotion back to the Championship.

This season however, opportunities have been harder to come by for Ladapo, who has started just twice for Kieran McKenna's side in the league during the current campaign.

As a result, recent reports from Football Insider had claimed that Charlton were interested in a deal to bring the 30-year-old to The Valley on loan for the remainder of the season.

Now however, it seems as though such a deal will not be happening before the window closes, as things stand.

Ipswich man "not an option" for Charlton

While his lack of game time this season means a move elsewhere for Ladapo could arguably have made sense this month, it appears that Charlton will not be his next destination.

According to this latest update from Cawley, the Ipswich striker is not seen as a potential option for the Addicks to sign during the current window.

As a result, any potential move involving Ladapo, is described as "non-starter", meaning both parties will seemingly have to look elsewhere if they are to secure deals this month.

Currently, there are aroud 18 months remaining on Ladapo's contract with Ipswich, securing his future at Portman Road until the end of the 2024/25 season.

That of course, means that the Tractor Boys are in a strong position to negotiate any offers that come in for him during the current window.

Charlton's League One play-off push faltering

Charlton have endured a difficult run of results recently, failing to win any of their last ten games in all competitions.

That is a run that has seen them slip to 13th in the League One table, 19 points adrift of the play-off places as things stand.

Michael Appleton's side are next in action on Saturday afternoon, when they travel to the Pirelli Stadium to face Burton Albion.

Ladapo update a blow for Charlton

It is hard not to feel as though this update is bad news for those a Charlton persuasion.

The Addicks do need to add some extra cover and competition for Alfie May at centre forward, and Ladapo's goalscoring record, and three promotions, at this level, suggest he would have been an excellent option to fill that void.

However, it now seems that deal will not be happening, while Peterborough United striker Jonson Clarke-Harris has apparently turned down two contract offers from the Addicks.

Charlton, meaning the pressure will be building on them to get someone in to fill that position.
