Atalanta have agreed to sell Italy international Honest Ahanor to Chelsea after striking a deal several days ago. The package could reach €48m with add-ons, and the 18-year-old is expected to go out on loan.

Brighton and Hove Albion were among the options, but Sky Sport Italia and Fabrizio Romano claim Chelsea have chosen Crystal Palace for his loan.

Chelsea do not currently have space for him in their squad, so the plan has been to send him out on loan first. Ahanor is due to fly tomorrow for medical tests, which would also allow him to settle in London, albeit not yet at the club’s training ground.

This would be Atalanta’s second major departure to Chelsea this summer after Marco Palestra, whose fee was well over €50m plus add-ons.

As Crystal Palace already have Axel Disasi on loan from Chelsea, they would probably need to make that a permanent move to comply with Premier League rules on two loans from a single club.
