Maresca hails Cherki’s ‘complete performance’ in win over Crystal Palace | OneFootball

Manchester City boss Enzo Maresca praised Rayan Cherki’s all-round contribution after the midfielder scored twice in their 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace.

Erling Haaland was also on target twice as City claimed an emphatic win, but Maresca was particularly impressed by Cherki’s work without the ball.

“For sure he’s happy,” Maresca said.

“His performance, for me, was very good, not because of the two goals but the way he worked off the ball.

“He has to press. He was in charge, when Palace had the ball, of Wharton and I think his game was a complete game, on the ball and off the ball.”

Maresca believes Cherki’s love of football makes him easy to work with and is confident the 23-year-old will continue to make a major contribution for City.

“He loves football, so it’s easy to work with him,” Maresca added.

“We know how good he is, we know the quality he has, he’s helping the team with goals and assists, no doubt he’s going to help the team in the future.”
