A temporary member of the midfield ranks at La Liga outfit Las Palmas is inching towards a move to England with big-spending Chelsea this summer.
That’s according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who points towards Dário Essugo as the player in question.
Essugo, for those not familiar with his name, is a 20-year-old midfielder, who is currently plying his trade with the aforementioned Las Palmas.
The Portuguese made the move to Gran Canaria on a season-loan long deal from Sporting CP over the summer.
And his impressive performances in the months since have long begun to pique the attentions of some of Europe’s top clubs.
Both Barcelona and Real Madrid have previously been credited with an interest in bringing Essugo in with a view to the 2025/26 campaign.
As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the media this weekend is anything to go by, then the youngster looks increasingly close to taking his talents elsewhere.
As per a report from the aforementioned Fabrizio Romano:
‘Understand Dário Essugo has already said yes to Chelsea and BlueCo project with negotiations at advanced stages between clubs.’
The deal being discussed between Chelsea and Sporting is based around a fee in the region of €22 million.
