Chelsea and Arsenal set to battle for Dutch league midfielder

Gjivai Zechiel is developing into one of the finest players in the Netherlands, and the midfielder has now caught the attention of Arsenal, who believe he could be the real deal.

The 22-year-old plays for Feyenoord and has been one of their most important players since the start of this season, making nine goal contributions in seven league matches. Those numbers are expected to improve, but he is already showing Arsenal that he could become a valuable asset at the Emirates if the Gunners decide to add him to their squad.

Arsenal already have some of the best players in the world in their current team, but that has not stopped them from monitoring other talented players who could strengthen their squad.

The Gunners know that if they fail to sign promising players early, other clubs could secure their services first. When they later decide to pursue those players, they could cost more, meaning a move for Zechiel could happen sooner than expected.

Arsenal face competition for Zechiel

According to Caught Offside, Arsenal’s interest in Zechiel is serious, although the report adds that the Gunners face competition from Chelsea for his signature. The Blues are described as a serious threat to Arsenal’s hopes of signing the midfielder.

Zechiel’s performances for Feyenoord have naturally attracted attention, particularly because of his contribution in front of goal. His current form suggests that he is developing into an increasingly important player for the Dutch club.

Arsenal will therefore need to continue monitoring his progress if they want to remain in contention for his signature. His performances so far this season have shown why other clubs could also become interested in securing his services.

Chelsea could challenge Arsenal

Chelsea already have some of the best young talents within their squad, and their interest could make a potential move more complicated for Arsenal.

Players are often happy to join Chelsea when there is news that the Blues want to sign them, particularly because of the opportunities available to young players at the club.

For Arsenal, the challenge will be maintaining their interest in Zechiel while assessing whether he can develop into the type of player they need. His performances for Feyenoord have certainly given the Gunners reason to continue monitoring his progress.
