In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey claimed that Chelsea are keeping a keen eye on Sunderland keeper Robin Roefs. It has been mentioned that the Blues are showing interest in recruiting the German goalie in the upcoming transfer window.
Roefs has enjoyed a great campaign at the Wearside club after he put in a run of solid performances for them in the Premier League. The 23-year-old has conceded 46 goals and earned 11 clean sheets in 36 matches for the Black Cats this season in all competitions.
The German custodian is currently among the best young keepers in the Premier League. Therefore, the Blues would do well to acquire his services in this summer transfer window.
His current contract at the Stadium of Light will run out in the summer of 2030. Therefore, Chelsea would have to make a big offer if they are to stand a chance of signing Roefs this off-season.

Roefs can be a safe pair of hands in between the sticks when he is playing with confidence on the field. He is a solid handler of the ball and can use his quick reflexes to make some important saves at the back for his team.
Standing at 1.93m, the German sensation can use his strong frame to command his penalty area with conviction and doesn’t hesitate when coming out to collect crosses and loose balls on the defensive end of the field. He has got some experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Chelsea.
We can expect Roefs to enhance the quality of Xabi Alonso’s backline in the long run. He is good enough to challenge for a regular starting role at Stamford Bridge in the coming years.
At 23, Roefs has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent choice for the West London giants to consider in this summer transfer period. He will also help the Blues compete across all fronts in the future. All in all, Chelsea should focus on trying everything in their power to bring Roefs to Stamford Bridge this summer.
