Joao Pedro has won the Premier League player of the month award, and spoke to Sky Sports about it at the training ground this week.

This summer, the theory among Chelsea fans was that Joao Pedro was not going to be happy about being left out of the Brazil squad.

It was good news for the Blues – he would be well rested and highly motivated to succeed. Well, that theory looks bang on, so far. He’s just won the Premier League’s player of the month for August.

Speaking to the Sky Sports cameras, the striker talked through his highlights from a first month where he scored two and assisted two in three games.

“I think my favourite goal was the chip against Fulham. My favourite assist, I think also against Fulham. So yeah, that game was special because I scored and assisted.”

The goal he calls his favourite, scored within seconds of the start of the season, saw him take in Cole Palmer’s pass with a brilliant first touch, then deftly lob the keeper with his second. It’s very much his trademark finish now:

“I’ve scored many times already chipping the keeper,” the Brazilian agreed
