One of Chelsea’s main striker targets will be available for around £62.7m in the summer of 2025, according to the latest report today.
This is a story that turned into one of those famous transfer sagas of the summer, and you just knew that Chelsea were going to be involved.
In the end though, for Chelsea to sign Victor Osimhen in the summer, it would have took a chunk of money and not just for his transfer fee, but for his wages and all the other fees that come with it as well. And in the end, it seems like it was just all too costly for Chelsea and despite trying, they were unable to capture the signing of Osimhen.
There has been rumours to suggest that Chelsea will go back in for Osimhen again in the summer when his current loan deal with Galatasaray ends and he returns to Napoli for them to sell him.
Osimhen in action for Galatasaray
According to a report from Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport, as cited by Transfer Zone, Victor Osimhen will be available for €75m in the summer, as per the release clause set in the player’s latest contract with Napoli.
Chelsea may well take a look at that again as the price has dropped and the overall cost to sign him will be much less than it was in the summer of 2024. We will see if they do though.
Nicolas Jackson has been playing well this season but he does seem to lack any real competition other than Christopher Nkunku, who is more of an attacking midfielder than a striker, and Marc Guiu, who is still a very young and raw player with a real lack of experience.
Osimhen would certainly provide Chelsea with more of a target to aim for in the box, should they pursue a move.
