Chelsea centre-back Aaron Anselmino (20) has reportedly turned down the opportunity to join BlueCo-owned RC Strasbourg for the remainder of the 2025-2026 campaign, according to RMC SportThe Argentine youth international spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Borussia Dortmund, but he has been recalled by Chelsea this month, presumably to free up a loan slot for a player they’d like to sign on loan, like Rennes’ Jérémy Jacquet.

But because they are yet to reach a deal with Rennes for the signing of the France U21 international, Chelsea have explored contingency plans to bolster Liam Rosenior’s defensive options. One of those plans leads to Mamadou Sarr, who is currently on loan at BlueCo-owned Strasbourg.

The Blues are considering the recall of the Senegalese international back to West London and, with Gary O’Neil’s Strasbourg being a player short at the back, Anselmino would replace the AFCON winner at La Meinau. But there’s a catch. RMC Sport adds that Anselmino does not want to join Strasbourg for the time being.
