Chelsea complete signing of Pep Chavarria

Chelsea have finally completed the signing of Spanish defender Pep Chavarria on a five-year deal.

The 28-year-old joins the Blues after three and a half seasons at Rayo Vallecano in a transfer reportedly worth £16.3 million.

"I’m so excited to get started," Chavarria said on his arrival.

"This is a dream for me as Chelsea are one of the biggest clubs in the world. It is a big opportunity but I am prepared and will work hard to help the team achieve success.

"There are a lot of people who have helped me get to this moment and I have to thank my family. They have always supported me and today is only possible because of them."

Last season Chavarria played 44 times for Rayo in all competitions, scoring once and making three assists.
