Chelsea consider two experienced goalkeepers

Article image:Chelsea consider two experienced goalkeepers

Chelsea made significant attempts to land AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan during the summer transfer window. However, those attempts failed due to AC Milan’s asking price. The Premier League side considered that their valuation of the goalkeeper was excessively high, given that the Frenchman’s deal with the Serie A giants was up at the end of the season, and given the lack of progress in contract negotiations.

Ultimately, Chelsea did not recruit a goalkeeper, opting to stick with Robert Sánchez as the No.1. There is also Mike Penders, currently on loan at RC Strasbourg Alsace, who is coming through, however, in the meantime, Chelsea are open to signing another experienced goalkeeper, as per Sacha Tavolieri.

Marc-André ter Stegen remains an option for the Blues; the German is now struggling for game time at Barcelona and the Premier League side could make a loan approach. Maignan, meanwhile, also remains a viable option and one that would be available for free come next summer.
