Chelsea pondered a move for Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White earlier this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The Blues eventually took Morgan Rogers to Stamford Bridge but were looking at his England international teammate Gibbs-White following a terrific 2025/26 campaign.

He bagged 15 goals and four assists in the Premier League to help his side avoid relegation.

Gibbs-White is a ‘special‘ player who can comfortably slot in at any of the attacking positions.

He also recorded three goals and three assists in 14 appearances as they reached the Europa League final.

However, he reportedly wants to join a club in the Champions League, ruling Chelsea out of the running.

He looks set to stay for another season after moves to Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur fell through in the past two years.

If he wants to move this summer, it will have to be abroad, with Chelsea now out of the picture and no other Premier League club looking to pull the trigger.

Chelsea’s interest in Gibbs-White now appears to be a closed chapter.

They must now focus on trimming an overcrowded squad, with several first-team players expected to leave permanently while others are likely to head out on loan.

Balancing the books and ensuring manager Xabi Alonso has a streamlined group to work with will take precedence over any further marquee signings.

Unless an unexpected market opportunity emerges, Chelsea should be finished with their purchases after the expected arrival of Pep Chavarria.
