According to TheArgus.co.uk, it is the Blues' 13th player transaction with Strasbourg since the start of last season.

Albion made a major push to sign the Argentina international from Boca Juniors, but he managed only six Premier League appearances before a loan to Sevilla, then moved on to France. He was not involved when Strasbourg faced Albion in a friendly on Saturday.

Since leaving the Seagulls, Barco has also featured in central midfield and went to the World Cup with Argentina. He was involved in a heated exchange with England’s Jude Bellingham immediately after a 2-1 semi-final win in Atlanta, with Bellingham appearing to clip him around the head.

Like Danny Welbeck, whose two-year deal was confirmed on Saturday, Barco is expected to join his new team-mates shortly on their tour of Australia and Hong Kong. Albion visit Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, August 30, which could be Welbeck’s home debut. Seagulls fans will have to wait until April to welcome the West London side to the Amex.
