Gittens started the London derby on Saturday as Liam Rosenior decided to freshen things up by making SEVEN changes from the Champions League win over Napoli in midweek.

Gittens received treatment from the Chelsea medical staff and walked rather gingerly to the dugout area upon being replaced by Pedro Neto.

There is yet to be an update on the 21-year-old, regarding the severity of the injury, though he is likely to be doubtful for Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg away at Arsenal.

It is the second time in a week that Gittens has been substituted early, though his withdrawal against Napoli - having replaced Andrey Santos on the hour mark - was to help Chelsea protect their lead.

“I thought Jamie Gittens came on and made a huge difference,” Rosenior explained.

“I had to take him off at the end. Big [Romelu] Lukaku was on. I needed an extra defender on the pitch in that moment.”

Estevao, meanwhile, missed out for Chelsea against West Ham.

The Brazilian was not part of the Blues’ matchday squad for their 3-2 win over the Hammers, and Standard Sport understands it is because he has had to fly back to Brazil for a personal matter.

It is not yet known whether he will be available for Chelsea’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday.

Rosenior’s side battled from 2-0 down to beat West Ham thanks to second half goals from Joao Pedro, Marc Cucurella and Enzo Fernandez.
