Cole Palmer has been recalled to England by Thomas Tuchel, with Chelsea team-mate Morgan Rogers also included in the head coach’s first squad since the World Cup.

Hounslow Herald reports that Palmer struck four goals and provided two assists in his first six matches under new Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso, after a 10-goal Premier League campaign hindered by a groin issue.

Rogers, a £117m summer signing, keeps his spot after linking impressively with Palmer and Joao Pedro in attack. The trio, known as JP Morgan, have combined for 19 goal contributions.

Phil Foden is not selected. Morgan Gibbs-White also misses out, while Noni Madueke has been dropped from the World Cup squad.

Liverpool teenager Rio Ngumoha is included, having travelled to the World Cup training camp and debuting against New Zealand. Bournemouth’s Alex Scott receives a call-up, with Jarrad Branthwaite and Dominic Calvert-Lewin returning.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is back after missing the World Cup. The Real Madrid full-back has not featured for England since the 2026 qualifiers. Kobbie Mainoo is retained, and Myles Lewis-Skelly plus Nico O'Reilly are among the younger picks.

Dean Henderson, Jordan Henderson and John Stones are unavailable through injury. England host Spain in the Nations League at Wembley on 26 September, then visit Czechia on 29 September and Croatia on 3 October, before a Wembley rematch with Czechia on 6 October. The four matches in 11 days give Tuchel time to assess, and offer Palmer a platform to take club form onto the international stage.
