Filipe Luis, who had reportedly been on the radar of QPR and Middlesbrough, is among the contenders to take over at Chelsea.
With the Championship season now over, the managerial merry-go-round is likely to get into full swing over the coming weeks and months.
Clubs up and down the country will make decisions ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, and one name who has been linked with several jobs in England is Filipe Luis.
To the surprise of many, it had been claimed that he is on Middlesbrough’s radar, despite the excellent job that Kim Hellberg has done since he succeeded Rob Edwards, whilst it was also reported that QPR are tracking the Brazilian, even though Julien Stephan had a solid first year at Loftus Road.

It remains to be seen whether Boro or QPR are in the market for a new boss, although all successful clubs are always looking ahead in case of unforeseen circumstances changing the situation.
However, it appears they could have a struggle when it comes to appointing Luis, as journalist Matt Law has confirmed that he is on Chelsea’s radar.
The Londoners are on the lookout for a new permanent head coach after Liam Rosenior was sacked last month following a terrible run of form.
Calum McFarlane is leading the Blues for the remainder of the season, which includes Saturday’s FA Cup final against Manchester City, but he is not thought to be a contender to land the job permanently.
So, Luis is thought to have come into their thinking, but he is by no means the only name in the frame, as Oliver Glasner, Andoni Iraola, Marco Silva and Xabi Alonso are also linked with the vacancy, with Chelsea expected to make an announcement on their next boss by mid-June.
As outlined above, we don’t know how serious any interest from Middlesbrough or QPR is for Luis, and, especially in the case of Boro, it would seem bizarre, as Hellberg has been superb for the club.
But, as Boro found out earlier in the season when Wolves poached Rob Edwards, you need to be prepared for all scenarios.
Luis was a fantastic player during his career, where he featured for the likes of Chelsea and Atlético Madrid, as well as the Brazilian national team.
Since retiring, he has emerged as a talented young coach, enjoying a hugely successful few years with Flamengo, who he won several domestic trophies with, including the title, and a Copa Libertadores.

Despite a win ratio that exceeded 63%, Luis left the Brazilian giants earlier this year, and he is now seemingly waiting for his next role.
Given the work he did with Flamengo, and the stylish football they played under Luis, it would be considered a major coup for any Championship club if they did manage to bring the 40-year-old in.
So, it will be interesting to see if Luis does take over at Stamford Bridge, but, if he doesn’t, then it wouldn’t be a major surprise if his next job was in England, as he looks to prove himself in the country.
