This month, L’Equipe reported that Enzo Fernandez has been weighing his long-term future at Stamford Bridge, with PSG identifying him as a priority target. The French champions are eager to strengthen the midfield, with Vitinha seen as a central piece of that plan.
Furthermore, the report reveals that PSG are focused on using the transfer market to raise competition across Luis Enrique’s squad. In France, there has been concern that a lack of reliable depth has left certain players too secure in their roles, making rotation or dropping them far more difficult.
PSG are not believed to have made any move for Fernandez during the January transfer window, instead treating the Chelsea midfielder as a longer-term objective.
Moreover, Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior shot down any Fernandez rumors in the short term.
“It means nothing to me,” Rosenior said (h/t The Guardian). “When you’re a world-class player, an outstanding player, there’s always going to be speculation that you can’t control. He’s been outstanding in the time I’ve worked with him.”

Amid rumors linking the Ligue 1 side to Fernandez, PSG expert Robin Bairner explained why the Parisians want the Argentinian, and it will be interesting to see whether the capital club pushes for the World Cup winner in the summer.
“Enzo is a neat fit for this PSG side. His technical excellence makes him press-resistant, and yet, with a strong work rate and tactical awareness, he possesses the prime defensive qualities to slot into Luis Enrique’s side,” Bairner wrote in his column for Ensemble PSG. “He also boasts other attributes that would enhance what Les Parisiens already have.
“Since moving to Chelsea, he has become a more box-to-box player, offering a genuine goal threat from within the penalty area. This is something PSG currently lacks.
“He also has a nastier edge to his game than any of PSG’s existing central midfielders. Sure, there’s no lack of tenacity from Vitinha, Fabian Ruiz, and João Neves, but none of these players possesses the same grinta as the Argentine. It may not be the most endearing attribute for a player, but it can elevate a team at key moments.”
